Okay, you want to buy a digital piano. You have visited many music stores and tried out a lot of digital pianos. You’ve got a lot of conflicting advice and don’t know what to do!
Unfortunately, this is what many buyers experience when they want to buy and use a digital piano.
The local piano store has several reproductions from the Internet, but not enough knowledge or good advice to make an informed decision.
Buy digital pianos
You enter your local piano shop and face a variety of digital pianos of different styles, colors and shapes. Some digital pianos have several buttons, a few hundred buttons and flashing lights – HELP !!!
You need advice, but unfortunately, the advice you get from the seller will always be in favor of the profits of the store, not you.
You visit a piano shop and they recommend Roland’s digital piano – “it’s by far the best digital piano, it sounds great, plays and feels like a real piano,” they say.
You ask, “What about Yamaha, I hear it’s also a really good piano?”
They say, “No, Roland’s digital piano is much better than Yamaha.” They sit and play
Yamaha, then Roland, and make sure that the digital piano Roland is definitely much better than Yamaha.
Why do piano shops always try to promote a certain model or brand?
The reason is that they either want to get rid of the model, or
make more money with one brand than with another.
You go to another piano shop to get more information and compare prices. You come home.
and you’re faced with a similar setup. The seller will show you different digital pianos as before.
and declares that Casio is the best digital piano, not Yamaha and certainly not Roland. Roland’s digital piano is too expensive a treat!
You explain that you just walked into another piano shop and said that Roland’s digital piano is better than Yamaha, and Casio is not so good. “They don’t understand what they’re talking about,” the salesman says. Now you are completely confused and leave the store a little angry.

Yamaha digital pianos
Yamaha digital piano is the most popular digital piano to date. Yamaha sold a lot more than any other digital piano.
Yamaha has reached the level it is today, thanks to excellent branding, advertising and product development.
Yamaha has put so much effort into making their digital pianos (known as Clavinova) sound and feel as close to the real piano as possible, so the sound samples they use for their digital pianos are taken from their own concert piano.
Rating: 9 out of 10.
Tip: Feel free to buy a Yamaha digital piano from this line.
Price: Basic models start at 989 pounds. You should be able to buy a Yamaha digital piano online at a discount of approximately 20%.
Casio Digital Piano
Casio’s digital piano has improved significantly in recent years. A few years ago, Casio’s digital pianos were considered mediocre, but today their improvements are so significant that they are considered to be some of the best digital pianos on the market.
Casio’s digital pianos have been and have always been the best value for money. Casio’s digital pianos are not as good as Roland or Yamaha, but usually these are inexpensive digital pianos that cost between half and two-thirds the price of Yamaha and Roland digital pianos.
Rating: 7 out of 10.
Tip: Fantastic value for money! Buy a Casio digital piano from the Celviano (Casio AP) line. You may want to consider a series of digital casio privia pianos if you have little space.
Price: Basic models start at 799.99 pounds. You can find great deals online.
Casio digital pianos are usually sold at about 28-30% below the recommended retail price.
Roland Digital Pianos
Roland’s digital piano is designed with high quality and delivers excellent piano sound, especially in the center of the keyboard. However, the sound is a little weak and upset in the range of medium to high.
Rating: 8 out of 10.
Tip: Buy any hp, F or KR Roland digital piano.
Price: Basic modes start at 899 pounds. Prices seem fixed online, so you won’t be able to get more than 5% of the recommended retail price. Chances are you’ll get a better price for Roland’s digital piano at your local music store.
Korg Digital Piano
Korgs are perhaps best known for their high-quality stage keyboards and pianos. They produce a limited set of digital pianos offering features similar to those of Casio’s digital piano.
Korg’s digital pianos have a pretty reasonable price, but their performance is inferior to the digital pianos yamaha, Roland and Casio.
Note: 4 out of 10.
Tip: I wouldn’t consider a digital Korg piano, but some like its sound.
Price: Basic models start at 999 pounds. You should be able to buy a Digital Korg piano online at a discount of approximately 30-35%.
Kawai Digital Piano
Extremely popular digital pianos! Kawai claims to have created the perfect piano and the sound of a magic potion that no other company can get – thoroughbred!
I tried and tested these digital pianos and found that the keys are too light and soft, and the sound is very bright, sharp and electronic.
Note: 3 out of 10.
Tip: I wouldn’t consider Kawai’s digital piano unless you’re a fan of Kawai piano sound.
Price: Basic model starts at 999 pounds. You should be able to buy Kawai’s basic digital piano online at about 20-25% below the recommended retail price.
Digital Piano Gem
Gem’s digital pianos are really beautiful, and behind them is a big name. They lack quality, however, the sound is very poor and they offer a limited set of digital pianos. The cover has a tendency to creak, and the keys are quite loud. They claim to use “Drake technology” in their pianos – sounds amazing, doesn’t it? But what is it? Well, it’s just a feature to help them sell, but I don’t
personally see a great improvement in their digital piano.
